TPD’s Executive Vice President, Donald Jacobs, P.E., PTOE, has been named the Chair of the Transportation Management Association of Chester County (TMACC)’s Board of Directors. He previously served on TMACC’s Board and as Treasurer for over eight years. The Board also elected their Executive Committee, which includes Greg Davis, Partner at Saul Ewing (Vice Chair), Matthew Baumann, Assistant Township Manager at Tredyffrin Township (Secretary), and Anthony Nichols, Senior Vice President at Workspace Property Trust (Treasurer).
Don’s areas of expertise are traffic and transportation planning, as well as highway design. Since joining TPD in 1995, Don has managed dozens of transportation-related projects, most of which he has carried from the planning stage through preliminary and final design, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocations, and construction.
TMACC is a non-profit located in Malvern, committing their efforts to advocating for the improvement of air quality and congestion through transportation management demand strategies and congestion mitigation strategies. It is with great honor and pride that we announce Joseph Platt, Jr., P.E., Senior Project Manager and Leader of Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD)’s Traffic Engineering Group, has been named one of Engineering News Record (ENR)’s MidAtlantic Top Young Professionals in 2017. Formerly known as Top 20 Under 40, the awards program honors individuals who have built extraordinary industry portfolios early in their careers. This year’s list is comprised of 22 professionals from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C.
As the 2016 holiday season has come to an end, so has Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD)’s unique holiday giving program which was created to benefit students, residents (and animals) across the Mid-Atlantic region. This program also helped members of the firm continue to fulfill one of their collective corporate values: The commitment to bettering their surrounding communities through charitable work and giving.
Members of Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD), a transportation engineering firm located primarily in the Delaware Valley, has made it their mission to spread cheer across the region this year in lieu of sending holiday cards to clients and friends that eventually just get recycled. Through their “12 Days of Giving” program, which was specially crafted to benefit local people (and animals) that need a little extra attention, members of TPD (“TPDers”) are volunteering and/or donating in 12 different ways this holiday season, with help from families and local community members as well.
On August 15th we welcomed a new face to the TPD family: Randy Waltermyer, AICP, former Transportation Services Director of the Chester County Planning Commission. Randy brings 13 years of transportation planning and operations experience to the firm, with specialized experience related to: comprehensive plans, bicycle and pedestrian circulation plans, multimodal plans, programming and funding, transit operations, and environmental clearance processes/procedures.
On August 1st we welcomed a new face to the TPD family: Thomas Walter, formerly of PennDOT District 5-0. During his 35-year career with the District, Tom has become an expert in traffic and operations, including ITS, engineering studies, traffic signals, traffic signing, pavement markings, railroad crossings, roundabouts, and operations / maintenance.
Lehigh Valley Business (LVB) named Shawn Glick, CDA, TPD's CFO, one of the 40 most accomplished young business professionals in the region. LVB’s “Forty Under 40” awards program celebrates the Greater Lehigh Valley's most accomplished young businesswomen and men who have been making headlines in their field and who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence and to the community. Publisher, Mike O’Rourke, was quoted as saying “they [the winners] come from many different industries including health care insurance, engineering and accounting. These folks are truly making an impact on the business community and making the region a great place to work and live.”
On Monday, May 16, 2016, the Greater Valley Forge (GVF) Transportation Management Association (TMA) recognized two of Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD)’s employees for their outstanding work related to Transportation Demand Management (TDM) at their Annual Meeting as part of their annual Top TDM Professionals Under 40 awards program. On April 28, 2016, TPDers in our Pottstown office were joined by 19 of their children for an interactive day of learning and fun in honor of National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day! The agenda included learning more about the services TPD provides, specifically bridge design and inspection, followed by a computer game demonstrating the importance of designing and building structurally sound bridges. Steven Natale, PE, of Traffic Planning and Design, Inc. (TPD) recently received his Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) certificate, joining two other staff members, Daniel Bitterlich, PE, and Tracy Stroschein, who are also certified. The CPESC is an inspection requirement PennDOT has recently adopted for projects larger in scale, such as the SR 0422, Sections M1A and M2A over the Schuylkill River. Continue Reading

Philip Wursta, Vice President at TPD and leader in the local civil engineering community, has been appointed to the Bucks County Community College (BCCC) Board of Trustees. The Board is comprised of 15 members of the community who meet monthly to govern the two-year, public college, which was founded in 1964. In September 2015, TPD welcomed Louis Hufnagle to the family as a Project Manager, focusing on Municipal Services. Louis’ background is in public sector work, with over 12 years of planning experience working with both Chester and Delaware County Planning Departments in Pennsylvania. He has had a major hand in transforming the region’s highways, roads, bridges, streetscapes, greenways, as well as bicycle, pedestrian and transit facilities. In addition to assisting counties and municipalities in the preparation of studies and development of recommendations for improvements, while working for Delaware County he also served as an advisor to Delaware County Council and the County Executive Director on numerous transportation projects. Joe was honored with the George Stout Award at the South Jersey Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE)’s 36th Annual Awards Luncheon. This award recognizes an individual’s dedication to and involvement in the Branch’s planning and programming. Joe has been quite active with ASCE South Jersey, including serving as a Past President.
