Project Overview

For Widener University, TPD helped facilitate the construction of a new Main Entrance to the campus. This project required an extension of 14th Street from Potter Street to Providence Road and terminating 13th Street as a cul-de-sac between Potter Street and Providence Road. TPD prepared a comprehensive traffic impact study for the project area, then coordinated with the project team, the City, and PennDOT to develop a traffic improvement plan for the revised roadway network.

TPD also completed traffic signal design in conjunction with the revised roadway network.

In conjunction with the traffic signal design for the project, TPD incorporated emergency preemption devices for the modified traffic signals in order to provide safe and efficient access to/from the local fire department in the vicinity of the new Main Entrance. TPD also examined the existing on-street parking provided in the vicinity of the new Main Entrance, and offered recommendations for limiting/adding on-street parking in conjunction with the revised roadway network.

TPD provided the following transportation related services for the project:

- Traffic Impact Studies

- Traffic Signal Design

- Coordination with multiple stakeholders
