Project Overview

TPD was retained by the Albert Einstein Healthcare Network to provide engineering services for the new regional medical center in East Norriton Township, Montgomery County, PA, which consists of a 380,000 s.f., 190-bed hospital with 1,000 employees as well as a 75,000 s.f. medical office building. TPD prepared the Traffic Impact Study for the site and several conceptual roadway improvement plans to minimize the impacts of the roadway improvements which consist of widening Germantown Pike from two lanes to five lanes for approximately a half mile from Whitehall Road to North Wales Road.

In order to expedite the approval process, the Highway Occupancy Permits were acquired in two phases. The first phase consisted of the improvements along the site frontage and the second phase consisted of the off-site improvements which required additional right-of-way from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania along the Norristown Farm Park. TPD received all permits including the Highway Occupancy Permit(s), a permit from Montgomery County (Germantown Pike Improvements), a Joint 105 permit from DEP for the extension of a bridge, and traffic signal permits for a proposed traffic signal at the main entrance to the site and modifications to three existing traffic signals.
