TPD Celebrates 25 Years of Engineering Excellence

TPD, an award-winning transportation engineering firm serving the Mid-Atlantic region, is pleased to announce its silver anniversary. Founded April 17, 1989 in a remodeled three-story colonial house located in Oaks, PA, TPD began with six employees, and over the last 25 years has grown into seven strategically located offices throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. TPD’s priority on sustainable company growth, despite the recent hiccups in the economy, has enabled the firm to develop and maintain its staff of highly-qualified professionals whose contribution to infrastructure, workforce, and economic development for the past quarter century has earned TPD merit on both local and national levels. The firm’s stability is evidenced by the recent opening of a new office in Philadelphia, a planned West Chester office to open this summer, and the anticipated hiring of several new staff members this year.

One of TPD’s most prestigious accomplishments to date is the firm’s continuous recognition as a nationally-ranked Best Place To Work. In the past decade, TPD ranked among CE News magazine’s Top 25 Best Civil Engineering Firms To Work For in the U.S. nine times. TPD is also consistently ranked by local business journals among engineering competitors as an outstanding firm, the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for the support of our troops, as well as Greater Valley Forge (GVF) for efforts in sustainability, among other achievements.

Over the past few years, TPD President, Kevin Johnson, P.E., has dedicated himself to advancing the state of the industry for transportation engineers and their partners and clients. The passing of House Bill 1060, also known as the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Transportation Funding Bill, is the culmination of Mr. Johnson’s, his staff’s, and many individuals’ and organizations’ hard work. This has become an important milestone in TPD’s history. Working to maintain the safety and capacity of local Transportation Infrastructure is TPD’s primary focus and every member of the organization contributes to this cause. As such, TPD takes pride in the Infrastructure Improvements the firm has planned, designed, and inspected throughout their history which benefit local residents and economies by creating solutions for modern transportation needs.

TPD took the opportunity to celebrate their anniversary on national “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” by inviting staff members and their children to indulge in anniversary cakes at each office location (pictured above), and of course a day of learning while training the “engineers of tomorrow.” TPD plans to continue their celebration at Hersheypark in May where all seven offices will gather together for a day of fun in honor of their past successes and in anticipation of future endeavors.

From Pennsylvania offices in Pottstown, Allentown, Doylestown, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, and a New Jersey office on the Camden Waterfront, TPD’s team of professionals specializes in Transportation Planning; Highway, Streetscape, and Trail Design; Bridge Design and Inspection; Traffic Signal System Design; Environmental Services and Permitting; Construction Management and Inspection; as well as Expert Witness Support For Accident Investigations for a diverse range of clients in both the public and private sectors.
