Delaware County Bridge Projects
Aston, Middletown, Upper Darby & Springfield Townships, Delaware County, PA
TPD is currently performing construction inspection services for Delaware County on two bridge replacement projects, Convent Road over Chester Creek and Rosemont Avenue over Darby Creek. Both of these projects have limited work space due to limited right-of-way and other site constraints.
The Convent Road project (County Bridge #6) is located on the border of Aston and Middletown Townships. The existing two span bridge was replaced with a single span, steel multi-girder structure with a span length of 135 feet. The substructure consisted of new cast-in-place abutments on spread footings.
Delaware County Bridge #73 on Rosemont Avenue is located on the border of the Upper Darby and Springfield Townships. The project consisted of the full replacement of the existing structure with a new 77-foot long, single span, prestressed concrete spread box beam bridge. The new beams were placed on new cast-in-place abutments on spread footings. This structure also included architectural surface treatment of the headwall and wing wall surfaces. The structure is located adjacent to two existing intersections and the approach roadway work included the construction of new curb radii and ADA compliant curb ramps. This project was completed 8.5 months ahead of schedule.
Both projects included federal funding and were inspected in accordance with PennDOT specifications and requirements including documentation using PennDOT’s ECMS, CDS/V3, and Project Collaboration Center.
