It is with great pleasure TPD welcomes Kellen Sporny, PE to the TPD family as the new South Jersey Office Manager and companywide Transportation Technologies and Lighting Systems Leader. Kellen possesses 16 years of experience, including work on major transportation infrastructure projects across the United States, with several state DOTs, toll agencies, cities and universities. He has developed an expertise in projects involving transportation planning, traffic engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and transportation lighting design.
An experienced project manager, Kellen has led multimillion dollar design projects that involved significant client and stakeholder coordination, as well as environmental permitting, electrical/power distribution, bridges, overhead sign structures, utility engineering, roadway engineering, landscaping, ADA compliance, GIS/mapping, managed lanes and tolling. Partnering with public and private clients to develop engineering solutions for complex projects has helped Kellen continue the pursuit of his ultimate personal goal of enhancing the quality of life and mobility for all community members. “Kellen’s personal goals and accomplishments intersect so exactly with TPD’s mission of existing to improve the quality of life for the public, he is a natural fit for TPD. We are looking forward to seeing where Kellen’s journey leads him and TPD,” said President, Kevin Johnson.
Kellen earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University in 2004 and is a registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Arizona. He has led the design and/or project management of major projects for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA), Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) and various other state DOTs and toll agencies across the country. A sample of his project experience includes the ITS design and traffic engineering for various NJDOT highway improvements and PANYNJ tunnel, bridge and airport modernizations; roadway lighting upgrades along NJTA’s Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike; and involvement with multiple projects over $100 Million in Pennsylvania, including I-95 Reconstruction in Philadelphia, I-95 Scudder Falls Bridge and the I-95/PA Turnpike Interchange. Outside the workplace, he has been a strong supporter of Philadelphia’s Gift of Life Donor Program since 2015 after his mother-in-law received a double lung transplant from Temple Hospital. He also enjoys volunteering in his children’s youth sports programs.
