Under subcontract with another consultant, TPD completed the periodic NBIS inspection of four bridges for PennDOT District 5-0:

- SR 0012 over Tulpehocken Creek and SR 0422 (BMS No. 06-0012-0010-0000) – a 398’ long, 3-span riveted steel girder bridge. TPD completed a hands-on visual inspection of the superstructure utilizing PennDOT’s bridge inspection access crane. The substructure was also visually inspected, and foundations probed for undermining due to stream scour. A complete inspection report was prepared, which included PennDOT BMS appraisal and condition ratings, PennDOT inspection forms, scour and vertical clearance sketches, and maintenance recommendations.

- SR 0012 over Private Roads (BMS No. 06-0012-0050-0787) a 204’ long 4-span continuous steel I-beam bridge. TPD performed a visual inspection of the concrete deck, steel superstructure, concrete substructure, and safety features (guide rail). An inspection report was prepared to document the conditions, which included PennDOT appraisal and condition ratings, inspection forms, and maintenance recommendations.

- SR 2017 over the Schuylkill River (BMS No. 06-2017-0010- 1780) – a 474’ long 6-span prestressed concrete non- composite adjacent box beam bridge. TPD completed a visual inspection of all structure components, including probing for scour undermining at all river piers. Superstructure inspection was completed using an amphibious crane from below the bridge. The inspection report included condition and appraisal ratings, scour sketches, and PennDOT forms for non-composite adjacent box beams.

- SR 2021 over Mineral Springs Creek and a local road (BMS No. 06-2021-0070-0056) – a 563’ long 7-span open spandrel arch bridge on a curved roadway alignment. TPD inspected the superstructure utilizing PennDOT’s inspection crane from above. The inspection documented existing concrete conditions that included spalls, cracks, exposed and rusted rebar, and bridge railing deficiencies.
