PROJECT OVERVIEW

With this study, TPD provided support in the identification of the first trail in the Village of Flat Rock. The Village desired to identify an alignment for the trail from the Park at Flat Rock to the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, two major centers for pedestrian and community activity.

As a subconsultant, TPD led in community and stakeholder engagement, data collection, as well as environmental review, route identification, and report design and development. Specific tasks where TPD offered specialty traffic and on-road support were for the following:

- Overall traffic engineering and safety analysis with crossings and facility selection

- Traffic-related input regarding greenway alignment

- Cost estimates for street crossing treatments

The study will enable the Village to advance the project towards implementation, providing a multimodal spine in the community that links two important destinations and community assets.
