TPD was retained by the Redevelopment Authority of Easton to provide transportation engineering services for the redevelopment of the former Simon Silk Mill Complex along N. 13th Street in Easton, PA.

The 14.2 acre industrial complex includes 20 buildings, and is being redeveloped as an integrated mixed-use complex dedicated to the creative industries. The master plan includes art studios, light manufacturing space and complementary residential and commercial space.

TPD performed a Transportation Impact Study to evaluate the impact of the redevelopment project on the surrounding roadway network. The recommendations balanced the needs of all road users along the 13th Street corridor. North 13th Street is a key pedestrian connection to the adjacent neighborhoods, and also carries regional traffic between Route 22 and residential areas to the north.

TPD worked with the project team, PennDOT and the City’s Public Works Department to design a driveway that met PennDOT standards within the constraints of the existing urban environment. The conceptual designs for offsite roadway improvements balanced the needs of regional mobility and local access, with a focus on safety for all road users.
