With this project, the City of Greenwood desired to identify traffic calming treatments on Main Street before embarking on an update to the City Center Master Plan.

This study included the following elements, which TPD lead as the prime consultant:

- Identify multimodal connections

- Identify and evaluate transportation system & parking

- Develop trends and future demands

- Public participation

- Congestion management/safety

- Establish arterial scenarios

- Recommendations/implementation

- Cost estimating

TPD, along with Friction Shift Projects, facilitated community engagement to identify goals at the outset and ensure that any recommendations remained true to the collectively agreed-upon vision. Working closely with the focus group, the team was able to arrive at a range of alternatives to address the project measures of success.

The plan built off previous planning efforts in Uptown. The project evaluated existing conditions, including traffic speed and volume, crashes, and existing street geometry/traffic control. These analyses allowed the TPD team to arrive at the final nine recommendations, which vary from low impact and low cost to high impact and cost. The report included cost estimates and funding considerations so that the City may readily advance projects to implementation.
