Bensalem Township engaged TPD to provide traffic engineering services to upgrade their school zones, using smart technology to minimize and mitigate traffic and safety issues related to their 14 schools.
Features:
- Allows Township to modify the timings at a moment’s notice, whether it be to coincide with weather delays, early dismissals, or special events, and saves the Public Works employees from changing each school zone manually
- Installation of “Your Speed” flashing radar signs approaching each school zone
- Remote access to the school zone controllers via applied information’s cloud based connected platform, software monitors the flashers and alerts user when there are problems with power, batteries or lamps by simply e-mailing or texting their device
- Grant funding secured by the Township to help fund this project
The partnership between the Township, engineer and Bensalem School District was vital to the successful implementation of these upgrades, in addition to the securing of grant funds; these improvements have positively impacted administrative control, vehicle speeds and the lifespan of technical hardware.
