PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Town of Franklin’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan is the Town’s new strategy to support future growth and development. The Comprehensive Plan is framed around key goals and strategies related to land use and appearance, downtown, economic development, natural and cultural resources, and transportation and infrastructure.
Working with the firm, Stewart, TPD developed the transportation infrastructure component of Franklin’s Comprehensive Plan. TPD helped the community define its multimodal vision and identified key mobility challenges.
TPD offered team support in community and stakeholder engagement, data collection and review, future project identification and report development. Specific tasks where TPD offered specialty transportation planning support included:
- A spatial overview of the roadway network’s existing conditions
- Typical multimodal cross sections to apply to roadways throughout the Town
- A complete set of mobility policies and strategies
- Integration with BikeWalk Franklin, the Town’s Comprehensive Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan
The Comprehensive Plan will enable the Town to grow and develop with also expanding its transportation mobility network through sidewalks, multiuse paths and greenways, expanded transit access, bicycling facilities, and improved street crossings.
