On April 28, 2016, TPDers in our Pottstown office were joined by 19 of
their children for an interactive day of learning and fun in honor of
National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day! The agenda included
learning more about the services TPD provides, specifically bridge
design and inspection, followed by a computer game demonstrating the
importance of designing and building structurally sound bridges. That
knowledge was then put into action by the construction of K’nex bridges
of various sizes and complexities. The children were also taught about
the importance of transportation planning, with regard to safety and
traffic volumes. The day ended with two additional activities: a
cardboard tube run, testing patience and trial and error, as well as a
foil boat competition; the sturdiest boat held nearly 80 pennies total!
It was a successful day that included both fun and learning, and of
course, cupcakes!
