TPDer Recognized as the 2024 PESMC Engineer of the Year

TPD is pleased to announce that Gregory (Greg) Bitsko, PE, PP, TPD’s New Jersey Regional Structures Leader, was named the 2024 Engineer of the Year by the Professional Engineers Society of Mercer County (PESMC), a Chapter of NSPE-NJ. This recognition is a result of “Greg’s 40 years of experience of bridge design, past and current involvement on projects within Mercer County, and leadership on notable structural projects across New Jersey, and the high esteem of his colleagues,” as remarked by Tejal Patel, PE, PESMC President. Greg proudly received the award at the PESMC’s 62^nd Annual Gene R. O’Brien Awards Banquet in Ewing, NJ on Saturday, February 24th.

Greg’s professional career is deeply rooted in New Jersey’s infrastructure systems, as he is the former Monmouth County Bridge Engineer, also having held other esteemed roles for public and private sector organizations. Greg has had a hand in the improvement and development of the Central Jersey area and beyond, including on many award-winning projects. Elevating his contribution to the industry, Greg has focused in on implementing more sustainable construction measures, including advancing one of the first foamed asphalt Cold in Place (CIP) recycling projects in New Jersey while at Monmouth County in 2002. In 2014, he was the project manager for the reconstruction of Route 202 in New Hope for the DRJTBC using foamed asphalt CIP recycling. The project won the 2014 ARRA/Roads and Bridges national recycling award and was also published in Asphalt Contractor Magazine and Toll Road News. In 2021, his project for the DRPA won again, this time the ARRA/Roads and Bridges National Recycling Award for the innovative stockpiling and reuse of foamed asphalt material. For the last three (3) years he has been collaborating with NJDOT and NJDEP towards having pavement recycling identified as Green Infrastructure.
