Kevin Johnson, P.E., to be Guest on PCN-TV Live Call-In Program 10/07/2013

TPD President and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) Board member, Kevin Johnson, P.E., was featured on PCN-TV’s live “Call-In Program” Monday, October 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM speaking on the trending topic of transportation funding, an issue that has become a major concern for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in recent years. The program will involve a brief discussion with host, Francine Schertzer, Executive Vice President of the Associated PA Constructors (APC), Robert Latham, President of the PA Building and Construction Trades Council, Frank Sirianni, and Chair of the PA House Transportation Committee, Representative Nick Micozzie. As part of the program, Mr. Johnson will be conversing live with program participants and callers, educating viewers on the need for Senate Bill 1 which ultimately provides for a $2.6 billion annual increase in transportation funding to start addressing some of the multi-modal transportation needs in the Commonwealth. In particular, Mr. Johnson will focus on the SEPTA Service Realignment Plan that will be implemented to address the infrastructure deficiencies within SEPTA if a comprehensive transportation funding package is not approved in Harrisburg this fall.

Mr. Johnson is President of TPD, a Pennsylvania-based 90-member firm that specializes exclusively in transportation engineering and related construction and environmental services with six offices serving the Mid-Atlantic region. He is the second engineer to serve on the SEPTA Board of Directors where he is the Chairman of the Administrative Committee and the Audit Committee. Mr. Johnson is also a member of the APC Board of Directors. In 2011, Mr. Johnson served on Governor Tom Corbett’s Transportation Funding Advisory Commission (TFAC).

During his 28 year career with TPD, Valley Forge Laboratories, Inc., and the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, Mr. Johnson has prepared and managed highway and intersection final design plans for over 400 projects and has prepared and managed nearly 2,000 traffic impact and parking studies nationwide for a variety of commercial, office, residential, municipal, educational, institutional, industrial, hospital/continuing care, and solid waste disposal projects. He has served as an expert witness for over 500 such projects throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
