It is with great honor and pride that we announce Joseph Platt, Jr., P.E., Senior Project Manager and Leader of TPD’s Traffic Engineering Group, has been named one of Engineering News Record (ENR)’s MidAtlantic Top Young Professionals in 2017. Formerly known as Top 20 Under 40, the awards program honors individuals who have built extraordinary industry portfolios early in their careers. This year’s list is comprised of 22 professionals from Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C.
Many of these professionals, including Joe, are major contributors to the profession and donate significant amounts of time and expertise to serve their communities. Joe serves as Township Traffic Engineer for numerous municipalities throughout the Delaware Valley, working closely with local officials to identify grant opportunities, prepare capital improvement plans, and develop project prioritizations for municipal capital improvement projects. Per a major client of Joe’s, he is “very adept with county and regional traffic issues that impact [our township], has great rapport with and is highly respected by both County and PennDOT officials who we must interact with routinely in order to address township related issues.”
Mr. Platt is a Past President for the Philadelphia Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), a volunteer organization for which Joe has tirelessly dedicated himself to for the benefit of the industry and future professionals to come. Joe’s section peers highly regard him for his energy and motivation in leadership positions. It was noted that due to Joe’s involvement, the chapter “has been a very successful model that other local technical societies have attempted to copy and follow, as it has attracted a following of over 200 members and serves as a ‘training ground’ for future Section officers,” per a chapter colleague.
