On Monday, May 16, 2016, the Greater Valley Forge (GVF) Transportation Management Association (TMA) recognized two of TPD’s employees for their outstanding work related to Transportation Demand Management (TDM) at their Annual Meeting as part of their annual Top TDM Professionals Under 40 awards program. Benjamin Guthrie, P.E., and Louis Hufnagle were recognized, among 23 of their peers, as ambitious leaders in the region who have made a positive impact in the transportation industry.

Ben has been with TPD for almost nine years and currently serves as a Project Manager. He continually works to improve safety and connectivity on roads and trails throughout the Delaware Valley. Over the past several years, Ben has helped communities in our region plan for a more walkable future by integrating the needs of pedestrians and bicyclists into future transportation plans. Among many other projects, Ben played a role in developing the Pottstown Borough (Montgomery County) Bicycle Network Design, as well as the West Chester Pike Transportation and Land Use Plan (Upper Darby Township, Delaware County), and Abington Township’s (Montgomery County) Bicycle Master Plan.

Lou joined TPD’s Municipal Services division as a Project Manager nearly a year ago, bringing a great deal of TDM experience with him. He has over 13 years of planning experience, having worked for both Chester and Delaware County Planning Departments, and possesses diverse experience providing municipal assistance on projects related to highways, roads, bridges, streetscapes, greenways, bicycle and pedestrian projects, as well as transit related issues on both a local and regional scale. During his time working for Delaware County, he served as an advisor to Delaware County Council and the County Executive Director on numerous transportation projects, while serving as the primary designee for implementing the County’s trail network. He also worked with the County’s TMA to obtain a grant in order to improve the safety of roadway and travel conditions throughout the County, as well as served as a liaison for the DVRPC on several committees.
